A student at Northern High School in Durham, NC, was involved in a car accident on Friday afternoon, sustaining minor injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m., and fortunately, there were no casualties.

Northern High School recently debuted its new campus earlier this month, commemorating the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and district-wide celebration. The school had experienced delays in the start of the academic year due to renovations, but it was finally able to open its doors. The new facility boasts several additions, including a culinary program, updated study spaces, and enhanced art learning tools.

Despite the excitement surrounding the new campus, the school has faced challenges in its early weeks of operation. Throughout the first week, officials were called daily to address fights that had broken out among students. Additionally, there was a separate incident where one student allegedly stabbed another. A 16-year-old was subsequently charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to cause serious injury or death.

In light of these incidents, Northern High School is now focusing on teaching students about safety. The school administration has acknowledged the disturbances and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the delayed start of the academic year. Some teachers speculate that the delays may have contributed to the recent disruptions, and efforts are underway to address these concerns and create a safer environment for all students.
